Gone Wild5 June 2026

Are we still talking about this? Yes, we are~ but this time, it’s a wrap~! The Wild series has been a big part of 2026 so far, and as with all things, the time has come to say “thank you, next~!” When I started drawing and painting, there was a huge struggle of trying to achieve realism and perfection. Hours were poured into researching and amassing a tonne of tools and resources...

New Old Things8 May 2026

Confession: I’m a terrible hoarder… I get senselessly attached to things and find it difficult to throw stuff away. But now, thanks to sashiko, I’ve learned how to restore old clothes, create new ones without buying more, and even saved several pieces of furniture which would have otherwise been hidden away because I couldn’t bear to throw them out.

No Play, No Life4 Apr 2026

Made a bunch of animated drawings of different types of play using my name. Just three little alphabets having fun. Play has always been a big part of my practice (as you might have already noticed). It’s what got me drawing again, and what keeps me making strange little things to share with you.

“Hi, my name is Germaine. And I’m an addict.”

I grew up on the west side of Singapore surrounded by parks, hills, and a quarry modelled after the famous Guilin mountains in China, hence aptly named Little Guilin. So nature was always right outside my window...

.....9 Feb 2026

This year, I’m letting things grow. Bigger canvases, bigger ideas, the same dot-a-dot-dots~ That’s when I had a tiny falling out with the mighty pen. They ran out too fast, and weren’t really customisable for the thicker, denser areas I wanted to build while still retaining the fine details. So…

Enter the humble toothpick.

After completing Something in the Woods and Oddjects, I got a little anxious not knowing what I was going to do next. You’d always hear about people trying to outdo their last project and how their biggest competition is themself. To this, I say bah humbug~!

Something in the Woods13 Oct 2025

I learnt to cycle this year (finally!) and spend a lot of time riding through the parks, surrounded by towering evergreens with strange parasitic shrubs hanging from their wooden limbs. These odd sightings take root in my mind, and I start to imagine what they really are and how they got there....

100 Oddjects22 Sep 2025

Started drawing Oddjects 10 months ago as a daily practice, and I'm happy to say I've completed 100 hand-drawn pieces! This series didn’t start off easy. Are the ideas too childish? Does this look dumb? Are the drawings ugly? These were the questions playing in my head like a soundtrack on loop...

Some monsters hide under beds, some hide in the shadows. My monsters grow on trees.

When words dance, stories take root in our hearts. From a young age, I’ve always been drawn to books and writing that could paint pictures in my mind with words alone...

Dot, Line, Dye25 Apr 2025

A bandana, a towel, or a piece of art? As a person who wanders into a homeware store just because I caught a glimpse of a printed fabric, my answer is... I don’t care~

Tiny Art
11 Apr 2025

Art is luxury, art is taste, art is exclusive. That’s what I used to think. But art is becoming more accessible, though I still shy away from entering art galleries for fear of looking like a noob. 😅

Meet the Oddphabets! They’re a little cheeky but also a little shy. These mischievous little buggers might swap places to confuse you, but really they just want to have fun.

Starting to draw again from scratch. Gulp... Drawing for myself meant no brief and no clear goal. The result? Drawing became un-fun...

Yep, that’s me~! Once upon a time, I dreamed of going to art school, but alas, was rejected twice. Nothing went according to plan. But 20 years later, it feels like I’ve come full circle.
