New Things
So, I’ve been a little busy this year making different things. They’re all some form or other of painted or written things at this point, but still different-ish.
I’ve painted words, and written pictures. Made some tongue twisters and wrote some riddles. If anyone asked which was my favourite so far, the answer is as difficult to give as asking one to make ice in a volcano.
Every idea started from a simple question, “what would you like to play with today?”
Without pressure of delivering any specific outcome, everyday, Felix asked what I would like to play with for the day. Maybe one day it was drawing animals, another day it was writing short word plays, and there were days when all I did was cut paper to size for future use.
That may seem a little frivolous and aimless, but…
Lookey what we made~
Twelve. What we see when we think about the Chinese zodiac. Confused animals just chilling and wondering what all the fuss is about.
Laugh. Because laugh lines are prettier than frown wrinkles. *wink*
Non-. Because my calligraphy teacher said writing is about creating something you think is beautiful, regardless of the right strokes.
Draw Words. You know that teacher who used to tell long stories in class about being useful and smart? Yeah, I was the student in her class doodling in my textbook.
Wild. Dotting with toothpicks as a cathartic experiment in alternative meditation. Try it. Highly recommended~
Unpublished things:
Feihua Feihua. Felix always told me I talk about a lot of useless things. So… the clever bugger decided I should make something useful out of it, so we roped in YX and YY for the ride.
Word games. Tongue twisters and riddles. Words that make sense and sound weird.
Again. Because if you repeat something enough times, it grows in weight and meaning.
Animal Words. Reverse-engineering the pictogram for the modern word phobics who’d rather reach for the comic than the novel.
Original Face. A simple study of the many faces we wear and change out of till we lose track of which was our real face to begin with.
These are some of the things we’ve made so far (that I have picture proof of..), there’re a couple more in the works we haven’t shared yet but I’m hoping it won’t be long~
