Something in the Woods

People often say I laugh a lot and like making others laugh. That’s mostly true, but those closest to me know I also have a deep fascination with the morbid and the grotesque~

I learnt to cycle this year (finally!) and spend a lot of time riding through the parks, surrounded by towering evergreens with strange parasitic shrubs hanging from their wooden limbs. These odd sightings take root in my mind, and I start to imagine what they really are and how they got there. From floor-sweeping tendrils resembling nooses to snake-like ferns reaching out as if they’re about to attack.

Nature is simply a bottomless pit of inspiration~

With this series, I try to bring what I imagine seeing to life. It has also been a practice of putting these ideas into words, learning to express them literally as well as visually, drawing on the many buried lessons from all the Seusses and Dahls I grew up reading (ah~ a world before the internet~).

Oddly fascinating and a little disturbing, it’s just a touch of creepy to make the ordinary taste sweeter. See the collection here!
